The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued information about 18 different product recalls for the month of April. Below is the list of products, issues, and remedies involving the recall and replacement of the affected products. 1. Polaris RZR XP 1000 Recreational Off-Highway Vehicles

Recall Date: April 2, 2018Reason for Recall: Due to Fire Hazard

Recall Hazard: If the exhaust silencer fatigues and cracks, the heat shield may not manage heat, which may lead to melting of nearby components or fire.

Description: This recall involves Model Year 2014-18 Polaris RZR XP 1000 recreational off-highway vehicles (ROVs). The ROVs have “POLARIS” stamped on the front and back grilles, and “Polaris,” “RZR,” “1000,” & “XP” stickers on the side panels. The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) can be found on the right rear frame of the vehicle, to the rear of the engine.

Recall Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop riding the affected vehicles and contact a Polaris dealer for a free repair.

Number of Units Affected: About 107,000

Incidents/Injuries: Polaris has received 30 reports of cracked exhaust silencers, including 3 reports of fire. No injuries have been reported.

2. Scotch Thermal Laminators Recalled by 3M

Recall Date: April 3, 2018

Reason for Recall: Burn Hazard

Recall Hazard: The plastic enclosure can overheat, posing a burn hazard.

Description: This recall involves Scotch thermal laminators that are white with teal accents. They are used to laminate documents such as artwork and photos. The laminators have “Scotch” printed on the front. They measure 14 inches by 3.8 inches by 2.75 inches. The model number TL901C is printed on a sticker on the bottom of the laminator. Only laminators with model number TL901C and teal accents are included in the recall. The two side ends, the bottom and the reverse switch on top of the laminators are teal.

Recall Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled laminators and contact 3M for a full refund.

Number of Units Affected: About 395,000 (In addition, about 130 were sold in Canada)

Incidents/Injuries: 3M has received 10 reports of the laminators overheating and causing deformation of the bottom of the plastic enclosures. No injuries have been reported.

3. Vornado Air Recalls Electric Space Heaters

Recall Date: April 4, 2018

Reason for Recall: Fire & Burn Hazard

Recall Hazard: The electric space heater can overheat when in use, posing fire and burn hazards.

Description: This recall involves Vornado VH101 Personal Vortex electric space heaters sold in the following colors: black, coral orange, grayed jade, cinnamon, fig, ice white and red. The heaters measure about 7.2 inches long by 7.8 inches wide by 7.10 inches high and have two heat settings (low and high) and a fan only/no heat setting. “Vornado” with a “V” behind it is printed on the front of the unit. The model/type “VH101,” serial number and ETL mark are printed on a silver rating label on the bottom of the unit.

Recall Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled heaters and contact Vornado for instructions on how to receive a full refund or a free replacement unit, including free shipping.

Number of Units Affected: About 107,000

Incidents/Injuries: Vornado has received 15 reports of the heaters catching on fire.

4. Nickelodeon PAW PATROL Marshall Hat with Flashlight (Recalled by Spirit Halloween)

Recall Date: April 5, 2018

Reason for Recall: Fire & Burn Hazard

Recall Hazard: The batteries in the flashlight can overheat, causing the flashlight to become hot, posing burn and fire hazards.

Description: This recall involves the Nickelodeon PAW PATROL Deluxe Marshall Hat sold with an accessory flashlight.  The PAW PATROL Marshall hats are red with a yellow ribbon, black and white spotted dog ears and a black flash light attached to the side of the hat. The flashlight is included with the hat and they share the SKU number. Only flashlights with SKU 01292093 and date codes 1703RY01, 1603RY01, and 1503RY01 are involved in this recall.The SKU number and date codes are on the sewn in label under the ear on the hat.

Recall Remedy: Consumers should immediately take the flashlight that was sold with the hat away from children, stop using it, remove the batteries and dispose of the flashlight and contact Spirit Halloween for a full refund. Customers will be asked to provide a photo of the tag located under the ear in the hat.

Number of Units Affected: About 20,000 (In addition, about 1,500 were sold in Canada)

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received three reports of the flashlight overheating and one report of an overheating flashlight in Canada. No injuries or fires have been reported.

5. Mizco International Recalls Power Bank Charging Stations

Recall Date: April 5, 2018

Reason for Recall: Fire & Burn Hazard

Recall Hazard: When the unit is being charged, it can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards.

Description: This recall involves the Re-fuel by Digipower Grab and Go Family Pack portable power bank charging stations. The power bank charger is a self-contained energy source used to charge cell phones and other devices when an electrical outlet is not available. The unit consists of three (black, gray and green) 2600 mAh re-chargeable lithium-ion battery chargers that sit on a recharging docking station. Each power bank is oval in shape and measures approximately 3.75 inches long by 1.25 inches high by 0.75 inches wide. “re-fuel by DIGIPOWER” is printed on each power bank.  Item number RF-TRIP is printed on the bottom of the charging station.

Recall Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled charging stations and contact The Container Store for instructions on how to receive a full refund.

Number of Units Affected: About 6,000

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received five reports of power bank charging stations overheating and melting. No injuries have been reported.

6. BRP All-Terrain Vehicles

Recall Date: April 10, 2018

Reason for Recall: Crash Hazard

Recall Hazard: The dynamic power steering shaft can break and result in a loss of steering control, posing a crash hazard to consumers.

Description: This recall involves model year 2017 Can-Am Outlander and Outlander Max all-terrain vehicles equipped with a dynamic power steering (DPS) and a 450 or 570 engine. The vehicles were sold in various colors. The model name is printed on the side panels of the vehicles. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is printed on the frame under the seat in the middle and on the frame behind the right front wheel.

Recall Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled vehicles and contact a BRP Can-Am ATV dealer for a free repair. BRP is contacting all known purchasers directly.

Number of Units Affected: About 6,500 (In addition, about 2,800 in Canada)

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received 13 reports of broken steering shafts worldwide, including two reports in the U.S. No injuries have been reported.

7. L.L.Bean Knife with Sheath

Recall Date: April 12, 2018

Reason for Recall: Laceration Hazard

Recall Hazard: The knife blade can cut through the protective leather sheath, posing a laceration hazard.

Description: This recall involves the Allagash fixed blade hunting knife with sheath. The sheath measures 7 inches long by 2 inches wide, is made of brown leather and contains white stitching down one side. The knife blade measures 3.55 inches long by 1 inch wide, is made of stainless steel and is attached to a light brown handle. L.L.Bean is embossed on the brown leather sheath and engraved on the top of the knife blade near handle on one side. The recalled knife with sheath has the product identification number 501794 printed on the green box in which the knife is packaged.

Recall Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the knife with sheath, and cover and store in a safe area out of the reach of children. Contact L.L.Bean for a free replacement sheath. The firm is contacting all known purchasers directly.

Number of Units Affected: About 600

Incidents/Injuries: L.L.Bean has received three reports of the knife cutting through the leather sheath, resulting in minor cuts to consumers’ hands.

8. LOOK Pivot Ski Bindings by Group Rossignol USA

Recall Date: April 16, 2018

Reason for Recall: Fall Hazard

Recall Hazard: The heel piece on the ski binding can come loose, posing a fall hazard to the skier.

Description: This recall involves 2017-2018 model year LOOK Pivot brand ski bindings. The heel piece can loosen and allow the boot to detach from the ski. The LOOK Pivot ski bindings were sold in black, white and yellow. LOOK is written on the front of the binding and Pivot is written on the side of the heel piece. Only date codes of H7, I7 or J7, without the letter ‘V” stamped on the black plastic piece behind the turntable heel unit are included in the recall. Date codes can be found on the bottom of the heel piece and can be viewed by rotating the turntable heel unit 90 degrees.

Recall Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled ski bindings and contact LOOK to arrange for a free inspection and replacement.

9. Jo-Ann Stores Light Sets

Recall Date: April 17, 2018

Reason for Recall: Laceration Hazard

Recall Hazard: The light set’s glass jars can break during normal use, posing a laceration hazard.

Description: This recall involves Jo-Ann’s battery-operated Maker’s Holiday 10-count LED string light sets. The light sets consist of ten glass jars with white plastic snow and red plastic beads inside and a cork at the top that holds the LED bulb. The light strings measure about 73.5 inches long and have a tag attached with instructions as to how to replace the batteries. Maker’s Holiday is printed on the front of the product packaging and SKU/UPC 1554-7201/603559321277 on the bottom left of the back side of the product packaging.

Recall Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the light sets and contact Jo-Ann stores for a full refund.

Number of Units Affected: About 3,000

Incidents/Injuries: Jo-Ann has received two reports of glass jars breaking, resulting in cuts that required stitches.

10. Square D Safety Switches by Schneider Electric

Recall Date: April 17, 2018

Reason for Recall: Electrical Shock Hazard

Recall Hazard: The power can stay on when the safety switch handle is in the “OFF” position, posing an electrical shock or electrocution hazard to consumers.

Description: This recall involves Square D brand General Duty 30 & 60A, 120/240-volt, 2-phase and 3-phase NEMA 3R safety switches. The switches are a dark gray metal box with a black handle on the side that can be moved to an “ON” or “OFF” position. The “OFF” position is designed to shut off the flow of electricity. The switches may be used in or around commercial buildings, outbuildings, apartments and homes. They measure about 10 inches by 7 inches by 4 inches. Brand name “Square D”, the ampere of the safety switch and the 120/240-volt or 240-volt marking is printed on a label on the front of the safety switch. The recalled switches were manufactured between January 1, 2014 through January 18, 2018 and have date codes 1401 through 1803. The date codes are in the YYWW format (example: 1401 = year 2014, week 1). The date code of the product can only be found on the inside of the cover and is not accessible if the product is installed and in-service. Only safety switches with the following catalog numbers printed on a separate label on the side are included in the recall: CD321NRB, D211NRB, D211NRBCP, D221NRB, D221NRBCP, D221NRBUP, D321NRB, D321NRBCP, D321NRBUP, DU221RB, DU221RBUP, DU222RB, DU222RBUP, DU321RB, DU321RBUP, DU321RBCP, DU322RB, DU322RBCP, DU322RBUP

Recall Remedy: Consumers should immediately inspect installed safety switches by moving the handle to the “OFF” position. If the power stays on when the handle is in the “OFF” position, contact Schneider Electric for a free replacement safety switch and free service support to install the replacement switch. If the safety switch is not installed and included in the recall, contact Schneider Electric for a free replacement safety switch. 11. Primark Decorative Cushions

Recall Date: April 18, 2018

Reason for Recall: Fire Hazard

Recall Hazard: The cushions can catch fire if exposed to an ignition source, posing a fire hazard.

Description: This recall involves 21 different Primark decorative cushions. The cushions were sold in various colors and shapes, including square, rectangular, heart-shaped, unicorn-shaped, and pumpkin-shaped. The product code is printed on the label attached to the cushion. The product codes listed below are included in the recall.

Recall Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the cushions and return the cushions to a Primark store for a full refund.

12. Polaris Phoenix 200 All-Terrain Vehicles

Recall Date: April 19, 2018

Reason for Recall: Crash Hazard

Recall Hazard: The throttle limiter can fail due to damage during shipping, posing a crash hazard.

Description: This recall involves all model year 2014 through 2017 Phoenix 200 all-terrain vehicles. “Polaris” is stamped on the front grill and on the sides of the ATV seats, and “Phoenix 200” is stamped on the side panels. The ATVs were sold in blue and gray. Model numbers A14PB20AF, A15YAP20AF, A16YAP20AF and A17YAP20A8 are included in this recall. The model number is located on the vehicle frame. To check for recalled vehicles by vehicle identification number (VIN) visit www.polaris.com.

Recall Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled ATVs and contact Polaris for instructions on how to inspect for a damaged throttle limiter, and, if damaged, to schedule a free repair.

Number of Units Affected: About 5,600

Incidents/Injuries: Polaris has received nine reports of a damaged throttle limiter, including one report of throttle limiter failure that resulted in minor injuries.

13. Polaris Ranger XP Recreational Off-Highway Vehicles

Recall Date: April 19, 2018

Reason for Recall: Injury Hazard

Recall Hazard: The center seat belt bracket can separate from the frame, posing an injury hazard to the riders.

Description: This recall involves model year 2016 and 2017 Polaris Ranger XP recreational off-highway vehicles (ROVs) sold in a variety of colors. The ROVs have “POLARIS” printed on the front grill, “XP” on the front fenders, and “RANGER” on the rear fenders. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is printed on a label on the driver-side frame of the vehicle, between the cargo box and left rear tire.

Recall Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled ROVs and contact a Polaris dealer to schedule a free inspection and repair. Polaris is contacting all known purchasers directly.

Number of Units Affected: About 10,900

Incidents/Injuries: Polaris has received five reports of insufficient welds of the center seat belt bracket to the vehicle frame identified by dealers during required vehicle setup inspection procedures. No incidents or injuries have been reported.

14. Wild & Wolf Petit Collage Children’s Toy Xylophones

Recall Date: April 18, 2018

Reason for Recall: Choking Hazard

Recall Hazard: The ball on the end of the toy xylophone beater stick can separate, posing a choking hazard to young children.

Description: This recall involves Petit Collage musical jumbo wooden xylophones. They are musical instrument toys for children. The recalled toy xylophone has a wooden base shaped like the profile of an elephant with five different colored metal keys and a wooden beater stick with a red wooden ball attached to one end. The beater stick measures about 5 5/8 inches long by 3/4 inches wide. “Petit Collage” and “TT.1902.0617” are printed on the bottom back of the xylophone. Only xylophones with this letter/number combination are included in the recall.

Recall Remedy: Consumers should immediately take the recalled toy xylophone beater sticks away from children, stop using them and contact Wild & Wolf for a free replacement beater stick.

Number of Units Affected: About 2,900 (In addition, about 240 were sold in Canada)

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received one report of the ball separating from the beater rod and one report of the ball being loose. No injuries have been reported.

15. Base Brands Water Bottles

Recall Date: April 20, 2018

Reason for Recall: Excessive lead paint

Recall Hazard: The pink paint on the outside of the bear water bottle contains levels of lead that exceed the federal lead paint standard. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health issues.

Description: This recall involves Base Brands children’s Reduce Hydro Pro Furry Friends water bottles. The stainless steel insulated, 14 ounce water bottles were sold in a pack of two bottles: a pink bottle with a character of a bear face and a gray bottle with the character of a lamb head. The recalled water bottles have a removable lid gasket and a rubber carry strap. Reduce, www.reduceeveryday.com, and 14oz/0.41L are printed on the blue or pink underside of the bottle.

Recall Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled water bottles, take them away from children and return them to any Costco store for a full refund. Costco and Amazon are contacting all known purchasers directly. Consumers who purchased a water bottle via Amazon should contact Base Brands for a free replacement water bottle, including shipping, or a full refund.

16. Briggs & Stratton Surface Cleaners

Recall Date: April 20, 2018

Reason for Recall: Injury Hazard

Recall Hazard: The surface cleaner’s spray bar can break and detach from the central hub, causing broken pieces to strike consumers, posing an injury hazard.

Description: This recall involves 3000 PSI Briggs & Stratton and Craftsman branded pressure washer surface cleaners. The recalled surface cleaners are black, red, or gray and have the Briggs & Stratton or Craftsman brand names printed on the top of the product. All recalled models have 3000 PSI molded into the top of the housing. Surface cleaners are designed to clean a variety of outdoor surfaces including concrete, asphalt and stone walkways. The cleaner connects to a pressure washer rated up to 3000 PSI.

Recall Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled surface cleaners and contact Briggs & Stratton for instructions to register online for a free replacement.

17. Honeywell Hard Hats

Recall Date: April 24, 2018

Reason for Recall: Failure to protect user

Recall Hazard: The hard hats can fail to protect users from impact, posing a risk of head injury.

Description: This recall involves Honeywell’s type 1 Fibre-Metal E2 and North Peak A79 hard hats. They were sold in a variety of different colors. The Fibre-Metal E2 hard hats have a manufacture date of April 2016, May 2016, December 2017 or January 2018. The North Peak A79 hard hats were manufactured from April 2016 through January 2018. Only North Peak A79 hard hats with mold identification number 4 are included on this recall. North by Honeywell, the mold identification number, and the manufacture date can be found on the underside of the hat’s brim. The date code is in a clock format: The numbers around the circle correspond to the 12 months of the year, the arrow points to the month of manufacture and the numbers on either side of the arrow represent the last two digits of the year.

18. HD Supply Recalls Ceiling Fans

Recall Date: April 25, 2018

Reason for Recall: Impact hazard

Recall Hazard: The brackets connected to the fan blades can break and allow the blades to fall, posing an impact hazard.

Description: This recall involves Seasons-branded 52” five-blade ceiling fans. The recalled fans were sold in white, brass, bronze, and brushed nickel finishes and have zero, one, three or four lights. Model numbers 269702, 269712, 269714, 269716, 269718, 269808, 269810, 269812, 269816, 269818, 269820 and 269822 are included in this recall. The model number is printed on a label on top of the motor housing.

Recall Remedy: Repair

Number of Units Affected: 144,000

Incidents/Injuries: HD Supply has received 13 reports of a bracket breaking and allowing a fan blade to fall, including one report of minor property damage. No injuries have been reported.
